Corker is on your side of the table — and that includes your data.

This policy explains what personal information Find a Corker ("Corker", "we", "us") collects when you use our app and website, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. Corker is a trading name of CyProtec Ltd, the data controller responsible for your information. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@findacorker.com.

1. Who we are

CyProtec Ltd ("CyProtec") is a company registered in the United Kingdom and trades as Find a Corker. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), CyProtec Ltd is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. 2. The information we collect

Information you give us

• Account details — your email address, and the name associated with your sign-in when you register with email/password, Google, or Apple.
• Menu photos — images of wine lists or menus you capture in the app so we can read them. These are processed to extract the list and are not used to identify you.
• Your cellar and taste history — the wines you save, mark as owned, drunk or wishlisted, and the ratings and notes you add.
• Messages you send us — anything you include when you contact support.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage data — the restaurants you search, the dishes and pairings you request, and how you interact with features, so we can provide and improve the service.
• Device and technical data — device type, operating system version, app version, and diagnostic information.

Information from others

• Authentication providers — if you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information (such as your email) from them via our authentication provider.
• Payments — purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription or credit purchase, but we do not receive or store your full card details.

3. How we use your information

• To read a venue's food and wine menus and generate pairings and recommendations for you.
• To personalise future picks from your taste history — a quiet memory that informs recommendations, never decides for you.
• To maintain your account, cellar and purchase entitlements.
• To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
• To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Our legal bases

Under the UK GDPR we rely on the following legal bases:

• Performance of a contract — to deliver the pairings, cellar and account features you sign up for.
• Legitimate interests — to improve and secure the service, and to understand how it is used, in ways you would reasonably expect and that do not override your rights.
• Consent — where we ask for it, for example to access your camera to capture a menu. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal obligation — where we must process data to meet our legal duties.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract and only as needed to run Corker:

• Authentication — Clerk, to manage secure sign-in.
• Payments — Apple, to process App Store subscriptions and credits.
• Menu reading (OCR) — Google Cloud Vision, to turn a photographed menu into text.
• Pairing and list structuring — Anthropic (Claude), to structure wine lists and generate pairing suggestions.
• Hosting and storage — our infrastructure providers, who host the application and database that store your account and cellar.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Corker, our users, or others.

6. International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Standard Contractual Clauses — to protect it.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Menu photos are retained only as long as necessary to read the list. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, accounting or security obligations.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, and to request a copy of it in a portable format. You can delete your cellar and taste history — and your whole account — from within the app in a single tap. To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@findacorker.com.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

9. Security

We use technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will notify you and the relevant authority where we are legally required to do so.

10. Age of use

Corker is about wine and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Please always enjoy wine responsibly — see Drinkaware.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
